Scan to see our baby girl

Yesterday we had another scan and had the exciting opportunity to see our baby girl again. Everything is fine and she's very active! Shes sitting very low with her legs on the left and her head on the right (but very low and sitting on my bladder - which explains a LOT - I need the loo all the time!)

We saw her sticking her tongue in and out and crossing and uncrossing her legs. Amazing really! Here is the picture we got from the scan (its not too clear as she wasn't sitting still for us at all). But the lady doing the scan said that everything is fine and going well :)

I cant wait to see what she looks like!!

Today, I had a bit of 'me time' - had my hair cut and coloured and went to finish off my Christmas shopping. Spent too many pennies and am now really tired and achy again. Ah well - work at 9am. Great stuff.

This week we finally finished decorating the tree (in fact we have two!)

Anniversary of the day we met

Well, today is the 8 year anniversary of the day me and my other half met! (cant quite get my head round that one!)

After having a very bad start to the day (my dads car breaking down) getting two busses and getting to work late :( I was sooo ready to come home - it was SO nice to come home to these:

I also had this card (which to others may be a little odd) but to us - it is so us!
The badge that is on the card is the pin badge that Stu gave me on the first night we met - its a funny story really - but that's our kind of romance i guess. We're weirdo's he he.

Tomorrow - we have another scan, so get to see our baby girl again :)

27 weeks and 2 days pregnant

How your baby's growing?

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

What your baby looks like this week:

We've now got the wardrobe for babies room (although its in about a million flat pack pieces). Theres a little project for Stu.

Ive had a very very boring day off today (I blame football!) so I've been upstairs all day - to be honest its been nice to have a lazy day - but at the same time i feel guilty and that i should be busy.

We went to Leeds on Wednesday to have a little mooch round - we ended up walking round for the best part of six hours though - which didn't agree with me. My pelvis completely locked up and my groin was really hurting :( i had a bath as soon as i got in, but was still in agony all night and the next day. The pain went after a a day of rest on Thursday.

Here's lovely Christmassy Leeds Corn Exchange and German Christmas Market:

Needing the loo ALL the time! ARGH

Our little girl has been kicking and wriggling about a lot today (she may have even had the hicups) Very strange feeling.

I'm already getting fed up of needing the loo all the time. About once every 20 minutes! Nightmare.

Stu (my other half if you didn't already know) had another chat with the little lady whilst laying on my tummy and she gave him a big kick in the ear! ha ha. Love it. We had a go at playing her a bit of Prince - give her some musical inspiration for her dance moves (cos she's wriggling a LOT!)

After my crappy day of blood tests on Friday - I'm bruising nicely. God I'm a wimp - I honestly have NO clue how I'm going to get on with having this baby! God help me :(

Other than never really being able to get comfy - I'm feeling OK at the moment. Starting to get a little tired again, but its not too bad.

Ive been trying to organise when I start my maternity leave at work (which is exciting yet VERY scary at the same time!) ITS ALL GETTING VERY REAL AND VERY CLOSE NOW!

Uncomfortable!

Well today has been a very uneventful day. I had a rubbish nights sleep cos stu was out and I can never settle when he's in. So I had a little nap and generally an all round lazy day. We STILL havnt decorated the tree even though it's been up since Wednesday - so far, we have lights. Hehe.

I spent the afternoon with mum, dad and buster dog - having cuddles on the sofa :)

I really feel like I should do more on my days off, but I just feel so tired and worn out. Rah well, back to work tomorrow - another scan on Friday! Yay!

Friday 9 December 2011

I hate blood tests - and they hate me!

Today I went for my GTT (Glucose Tolerance Test). Had to have a blood test, drink and bottle of lucazade then have another blood test two hours later.

Now, I know its dramatic - but Ive had really bad experiences with blood tests before and I always get 'youve got rubbish veins' and i think - great - here we go!

So, first blood test - first try, needle in - no blood flow.
Second try (in the vein that's really sore and tender whenever they go for that one) in, blood flow OK - but my gosh it stings.

Drank the lucazade and read some boring celeb magazines in the waiting room with mum.

Second blood test - tried my left arm. Needle in - no blood flow.
Next we tried in the back of my hand - needle in - vein collapsed - great stuff (that stunk like a bugger! lol)
Third try - back into the right arm into the vein that always hurts the worst (and still does now) Needle in - blood was not flowing! ARGH!

So, test wasn't done and the whole morning was a (stressful) waste of time.

So then me and mum went into town and picked up a few bits and had some food (cos id not been able to eat the night before or the morning) then off I went to work.

26 weeks pregnant

How your baby's growing?

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel.

What your baby looks like this week:
Things we've finished (yay):
  • Ordered a wardrobe for the bambino (Thanks Wendy)
  • Booked onto antenatal and breast feeding classes
  • Painting the walls in babies room

Things to do:

  • Pick a pram
  • Start to make seat cover for the new rocking chair - need to have it stripped/sanded down too - so I can paint it

Day off - day of rest and tidying with the Mr

Ive not been feeling well over the last few days (had a bit of a tummy upset - boo). So I decided that I would have a bit of a chill out day today to re-charge my batteries.

So, we've moved the single bed out of the house so we have more space, and got the christmas decorations out of the attic.

** Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas! **

We even had a visit from Santa himself tonight :)

The start of something

Ive decided that in order to help me through this pregnancy (and beyond) that i would start to write a blog, to have some time to myself to type my thoughts and feelings.

This is a place where we will post photo's, feelings and happenings for people we love to see.

To start us off - here is our baby girl in her 21 week scan. Fit and healthy and having a good old boogie!!

Im now 25 weeks and 5 days.
